Rhea Chakraborty’s mother, Sandhya, on watching her children behind bars: I thought of ending my life
Rhea Chakraborty, on Wednesday (October 7), walked out of the Byculla Jail after the Bombay High Court granted her conditional bail on a surety of Rs 1 Lakh, along with late Sushant Singh Rajput’s staffer Dipesh Sawant and his house manager Samuel Miranda for drugs-related charges. She spent 28 days in custody since her arrest on September 8. However, her brother Showik and drug peddler Abdul Basit Parihar were refused bail. But watching her daughter and son behind bars was really tough for mother Sandhya Chakraborty. She admitted that she thought that ending her life was the only option to end this misery and suffering her family has been going through. “While it’s a relief she’s out of prison, it’s crazy it’s still not over. My son is still behind bars and I’m paranoid about what tomorrow will bring,” Rhea Chakraborty’s mother Sandhya told Times Of India. She further added, “I can’t sleep on the bed anymore when my children are suffering in jail. I can’t eat. I wake up in the middle of the night, gripped by a fear of the next thing that could go wrong. My family’s not just been pushed to a corner, it’s been destroyed. At one point I thought the only way to end it was by ending my life. I’m not this kind of a person, you know. I’ve sought therapy for myself. Now when these feelings appear, I keep reminding myself I need to be there for my children. They’re going through far worse.” Also Read – ‘The shameless people who destroyed her image are lining up for my interview,’ says Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer after her release

Sandhya said that she will now have to put her daughter on therapy and reclaim her life. “What she has gone through… how will she heal from this? But she is a fighter and she must be strong. I’ll have to put her on therapy to help her get over this trauma and reclaim her life. Yet, even after she came home today, she looked at us and said: ‘Why do you look sad, we have to be strong and fight this’,” she said.

Responding to the new narrative of a certain eyewitness that Sushant had met Rhea on June 13 and had dropped off home, Sandhya said that the claims can be easily disproven if the authorities investigate Sushant’s cell towers. She also added that they have installed CCTV cameras outside their home for protection as they panic every time the doorbell rings.

On Wednesday evening, her lawyer Satish Maneshinde expressed relief saying Rhea will finally get to sleep on her own after a month in the jail. He said “truth and justice have prevailed” and ultimately the submissions on facts and law have been accepted by Justice Kotwal”. “The arrest and custody of Rhea was totally unwarranted and beyond the reach of law. The hounding and witch hunt by three central agencies – the CBI, ED and NCB – of Rhea should come to an end. We remain committed to Truth. Satyameva Jayate,” he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sangram Singh Nishandar again warned the paparazzi against chasing or obstructing any vehicles in which persons called for investigations travel in view of safety of all the stakeholders.
