Jawaani Jaaneman movie review: Saif Ali Khan, Tabu and Alaya F’s family comedy is saved by a cracking second half

Jawaani Jaaneman tells the story of Jazz (Saif Ali Khan)’s carefree, philandering, bachelor lifestyle even after the age of 40, which is sent for a toss upon the arrival of his 21-year-od daughter Tia (Alaya F), whom he didn’t know existed. How this threatens his independent lifestyle and does it finally make him turn a new chapter in life forms the rest of the plot.  imagesSaif Ali Khan hasn’t been enjoying the best of times as a leading man, with his films (excluding Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which anyway stars Ajay Devgn) since the past few years not only biting the bullet at the box-office, but also not enjoying a good response from those who’ve watched them. On the other hand, the launch of a star kid is met with lot of cynicism these days, making Alaya F’s debut all that more difficult. Thankfully, the two have the ever-reliable Tabu for company, who’s entry in the second half of Jawaani Jaaneman not only uplifts proceedings, but also works as a signal for the entire film along with her co-actors to perform a 180 degree U-turn.
