I was a bit apprehensive while going to watch the movie. Though the Bumbro song flashed often across the LED screens had touched the chords of my heart, I didn’t know whether I would like the movie set in the times 50 years back. But once I had taken my seat and the movie began, I was glued to the screen and didn’t move till the last scene, not even during the interval. Throughout the movie, you can’t guess what will happen next and this one feature of this Meghna Gulzar immortal movie keeps you on the edge of your seat!

What a spectacular performance by Alia Bhatt. She has lived the role so deftly and naturally that you can’t imagine any other actress in her place. Years back, when Karan Johar had launched her in SOTY, I had thought that a too young girl had been pushed into the filmdom a bit too early. But here! She has surpassed all her brilliant performances in Highway, Badrinath..and all. As you look at her as a most seasoned actor at such young age, you are forcefully reminded that after all she is daughter of two most brilliant film personalities-Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdaan. That’s how brilliant children bring laurels to their parents-By forcing you to think of them through their outstanding performances.

Meghna played a master stroke by choosing relatively new actors except Alia for all other important roles. You don’t carry any positive or negative image of other actors in the movie so you can’t guess how they will behave in their roles. If she had chosen well known actors you would have fore concluded them as good or bad characters and film would have lost some of its sheen.

Set in the pre Vikrant and PNS Ghazi battle times (Remember the movie, The Ghazi Attack?), the movie is based on a true story and penned by Harinder Sikka who knows the art of story telling. As you leave the hall, something nibbles at your heart. How meaningless these wars are that the countries fight and take away lives of lakhs of humans and above that, brutally murder the otherwise beautiful human relations! The movie succeeds in forcing the world countries to rethink before destroying the peace loving families for meaningless inches of land and waters!
